YK Pao School is a pathbreaking non-profit international school established by the YK Pao Education Foundation in 2007. The School’s founding vision was to build a world-class school for tomorrow's China, educating global citizens and future leaders on a foundation of strong values and academic excellence.
Pao School Shanghai pioneered a unique Year 1-12 Chinese-English immersion bilingual programme which integrates the Chinese National Curriculum with international approaches. Taught in Mandarin and English and emphasizing a foundation in Chinese values and cultural heritage, for both Chinese and international students. In addition to academic excellence, the School also nurtures the whole person. Character education is a core part of the programme, centered around the core values of Compassion, Integrity and Balance. Students are also encouraged to pursue a wide range of sports, arts, music and extra-curricular activities to develop a diverse set of skills and abilities.
Pao School Shanghai has three separate campuses, each specially designed for the needs of Primary, Secondary and High School students. The High School campus offers international-style boarding education. The Pao School community has over 1,600 students and more than 350 faculty members and staff from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and internationally from over 20 countries. It is the first school in mainland China where Chinese and international students learn in the same classroom and the experience and education are truly multi-cultural and unique.
Pao School’s new model of education has achieved recognition by parents, the Government and educational experts. We have been honoured to be voted the leading international program in mainland China multiple times by the prestigious Hurun Educational Survey and Forbes. Our graduates have been accepted to top universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Yale, Columbia, MIT, the University of Chicago, Caltech, Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Toronto and the University of Melbourne, as well as others in Europe and Asia.
YK Pao School Hong Kong is scheduled to open in September 2026*. The new not-for-profit, international school, aims to serve both non-local and local families with children aged 6 to 15, fostering global perspectives through a rich bicultural education.
